Remember that not all the desk chairs at IKEA can be adjusted in the ways described below. Here is a step-by-step-guide on how to adjust a computer chair for comfort and better posture. Once you have your new desk chair, you’ll need to adjust it for maximum comfort. Chairs without armrests will fit a wider variety of desks. Armrests can cause an inconvenience if they block the chair from going under a desk. They should support your arms at the point where your elbows would naturally rest with your shoulders relaxed.Īn ergonomic desk chair without armrests might be preferable if you’re looking for a lighter, more flexible computer chair. It's important that the armrests have the right adjustment. If you're planning on using your chair several hours each day, a chair with armrests could allow for greater comfort long-term. Should I get a desk chair with or without armrests? But if your desk is placed on a platform or an uneven floor, an office chair without wheels could be the better option. They enable you to move around smoothly even while sitting. Nowadays, office chairs with wheels, or casters, are very common. Should I get a desk chair with or without wheels? Consider the following functionalities to find the perfect desk chair. To prevent aches and improve blood flow, a computer chair should be ergonomic, comfortable and fit the dimensions of your computer desk. I'd appreciate seeing more former reviewers do the same.If you spend a lot of time in front of a computer, it’s essential that you maintain a good sitting posture. I will add to this review as time goes by, to indicate how well this product does long-term and with moderately heavy use. My intention is to use it daily as a dining chair. With the Lifelong brand wheels, it will have a width of 21" to 22.5", depending on how the rotating wheel base is turned.Īs I wrote, these are my initial impressions. With their standard wheels the width is about 21" to 21.5". The wheel base is about 20" at its widest point, before adding the wheel casters. The seat is 17.5" wide x 16.25" front to back. It lowers to where the seat is 28 inches off the floor. You can sit on the chair while lowering it it seems best to get off the chair while raiding it. The raising and lowering mechanism works well. That was a pleasant surprise and is appreciated. They add an extra screw for the connector, and an extra screw, washer, and pressure ring for the back attachment. And, don't forget to put the holding ring and washer on the screws. Just make sure you doube check the front versus back of the seat - this is important for setting the metal lift connector in place. Regardless, putting the chair together was quite easy. Instructions: As seems to be the new trend, they were mostly pictures without words. This is not a plush, rocking chair type of product, yet it is comfortable. I was able to use Lifelong brand casters, instead, which are purportedly safe for hardwood and marble floors. The casters are replaceable too, which is good. This makes it possible to lift the chair without fear of dropping casters. I appreciate that the casters stay in place (unlike the other chair I tested: the KK Toner Round Rolling Stool, whose wheels do not stay in place). A customer could leave the that cover off if they prefer, but I like it. Nevertheless, that there is a cover that raises and lowers like a telescope- to "hide" the post, is a nice added attribute. Regardless, it probably wouldn't be noticeable to most unless they get down on the floor and squeeze it. The one weak point in design, in my opinion, is the cover that fits over the raising post: it feels a bit flimsy. It has a buffed texture [not shiny or smooth - which to me is nice, because it makes it look and feel more solid and not cheap. The chair frame appears to be a firm plastic too, but not thin, so my initial thought is it will last. The base that holds the wheels may be a form of plastic, but it is dense and feels strong almost like metal. Many parts are sturdy metal, which is much better than plastic. So far, it is comfortable even for being over 200 lb and over 6 feet tall. The seat material is nice: feels firm but soft better than those seats with faux leather. Initial impressions: The chair is better quality than I expected.
